Taking Just a Little Peek
The little face peeked out the hole in the neighbour’s trim around his roof. Actually the culprit looking out of the hole – likely helped to make the hole. Meet Mister Squirrel.
Other than a few real cold days Mr. Squirrel and his many relatives have been as active this year as ever in our yard. From chasing each other around the trees to making tracks in our snowy yard – they are busy. It helps that one of our neighbours feeds them peanuts all year long.
The thought is so simple… and yet profound. How does a squirrel last through the winter?
The one little guy that peeked out the hole was eating snow. No kidding! He held the ball of snow like an acorn and was munching happily. In fact after finishing one piece he grabbed another.
I never thought of this simple fact before. God takes care of his own. He has placed this simple desire in its heart and the knowledge to take care of its life. Things that I have taken for granted or never been aware of – still happen.
With a wee bit of reading I discovered that birds eat snow as well. During the summer they regularly visit the bird bath we have. But during the winter they eat snow – specially if they stay in Canada!
It is the fact that the completely obvious was missed almost all my life. God is always there with the obvious waiting for someone to discover it. I am often in too big a hurry to see because of the painfully obvious fact I am too busy to see.
It may be my age and the fact that there are not a lot of years left to see – that I now look everywhere to just see a little. The world around me is exploding with these huge discoveries. WOW!
Can I ask you to look with me? To simply look around you for the new discoveries that God has placed there for you to find – is fun. Every single day is filled with new stuff I have found. Every nook and cranny has something of value.
Double WOW!
