Just Enjoy What You Have
It was noisy around the table when the cake came in. Why wouldn’t it be? Thomas had just turned 9 years – and mom had made him a big cake. As you can see from the victory salute with nine fingers raised – it is a celebration. His brothers looking on…
We were not able to attend the celebration but heard from Thomas. Last year it was an extremely busy day when his birthday arrived. He told us that he had a Mars Bar with a candle on it. His mom is very creative – and he loves chocolate! Having a Mars Bar all to himself with three brothers salivating across from him made it taste even better!
This year – the big cake was his! But I know that he shared some of it.
One simple thought that has come so clear in these last days, I need to enjoy what I have – for however long it might be with me. I am very wealthy if I do take time to enjoy it now. Brenda’s posting yesterday brought that thought back again. What I have is so important now. It may not always be.
Now the next step is to enjoy what you have so much… that you do not need anything else. Thomas has demonstrated this fact – he loves food. He loves a Mars Bar with a candle, or big Birthday Cake with nine candles – of the biggest chicken burger that anyone has ever seen. The photo says it all.
The “Bare Naked Ladies” are a favorite Canadian group of mine. They write and sing some of the wackiest songs ever. One of my favorite songs they do is, “If I had a Million Dollars” – in it they poke fun of the idea… One thing for sure, you would not be enjoying what you have now but rather what want more of later.
If YOU had a Million Dollars now - YOU probably would have worried all night wondering what you will do tomorrow with your new millions – how to keep it and where to invest it… and who might try to get it from you. You can’t relax when you are a millionaire. I know I would be like that.
Thomas is not a Millionaire yet (but he is a very good hockey player... maybe someday)
Thomas enjoys now. That is a good one for Grandpa to re-learn today.

Words to describe my life…
If I Had a Million Dollars
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you a house (I would buy you a house)
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you furniture for your house (Maybe a nice Chesterfield or an ottoman)
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you a K-Car (a nice Reliant automobile)
If I had a million dollars I'd buy your love.
If I had a million dollars
I'd build a tree fort in our yard
If I had a million dollars
You could help, it wouldn't be that hard
If I had a million dollars
Maybe we could put a refrigerator in there
Wouldn't that be fabulous
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you a fur coat (but not a real fur coat that's cruel)
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you an exotic pet (like a llama or an emu)
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you John Merrick's remains (All them crazy elephant bones)
If I had a million dollars I'd buy your love.
If I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars
We wouldn't have to walk to the store
If I had a million dollars
We'd take a limousine 'cause it costs more.
If I had a million dollars
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinners
But we would, we'd just eat more.
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you a green dress (but not a real green dress, that's cruel)
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you some art (a Picasso or a Garfunkel)
If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
I'd buy you a monkey (haven't you always wanted a monkey?)
If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars
