Something To Warm Your Winter Day
I know, I know, - you don’t need any more to clutter your old mind up now… BUT YOU NEED THIS ONE – I promise!
Have you ever thought about what other languages and countries call certain creatures? No…? Well try this one on someone today. It will change your coffee break time with them. You will become a well of hidden and invaluable info.
Did you know that in China…that….the common sound for…
A Bee is a Tseeee Tseeee? And in Hindi/India it is Bhnnn Bhnnn?
A Bird is a Chi-chi-chi? And in Japan it is Pee Pee?
A Cat is a Mao Mao? And in Italy it is Miau?
A Chicken is Chi Chi Chi? And in Hungary it is Kot kot?
A Frog is Kwok kwok? And in Greece it is Quak-quak?
A Cow is Nyow? And in Portugal it is Muuu?
A Duck is Yap-yap-yap-yap? And in Germany it is Quack quack?
A Dog is Wo-wo-wo-wo? And in Russia it is Hav-hav?
And if a German tries to sell a Greek a duck, will he buy it over the telephone? Sheesh that one is deep!
Now without looking up – what do most people of India call a Bee?
Oh oh! I didn’t intend for that to happen. We just completed our first Memory Test together. Here is positive proof that the early stages of dementia are setting in.
Your short term memory has problems. The events of that last few days has taken its toll – you are losing it! Too much TV I think. With this cold weather we have all watched too much TV.
No – its not TV you say? Well then what did you watch last night at 8:00 PM? Do you remember? Oh nuts – sorry – I did it again. We both failed.
If I don’t stop we will both be in a slump soon.
Let’s try this instead. What was the most memorable thing that happened to you when you were 12? Or – What was the best holiday that you had as a kid? Where did you go and what happened when you got there?
Ooohh does that ever feel better. I can remember….
Mao mao said to the Kwok kwok – “Look at the Yahn Yahn, why is he talking to himself?”
Please do something to warm this day for someone.
