Just Like Their Dads

I was just a little proud… My grandsons helped me clear our driveway in a big storm on New Year’s Day. They worked with shovels and the snow blower for almost two hours steady! Does my chest look bigger today? You better believe it!

The other grandpa on our street had a grandson home as well. This kid is one year older than our oldest grandson. He is useless… sorry to say that…but true. He came out and worked for fifteen minutes and then told his grandpa that this wasn’t for him. He didn’t like hard work. My four younger grandsons worked like troopers and cleaned the driveway perfectly.

Our driveway is three times larger than anyone else’s on our street. It is a wonderful thing in the summer for visitor parking but a nightmare in snow weather!

These boys of mine, Jonathan, Thomas, Michael and Christopher love to work. Their cousins Clifford and Emma are the same. They love to work. They step into help grandpa whenever they can.

Where do they get it from…?

The answer is simple – their dads(….and moms).

The boys however are a spitting image of their dad. They are little "Bills" and a smaller size "Bruce". They love hard work and put their whole heart into it.

The other grandkids that I have observed are pretty much like their dads as well. The dads do not work and hate it. You might actually say they are allergic to it. Unemployment runs in their family.

If my boys and girls keep this attitude for the next years – nothing will be impossible for them.

The reason for my writing today is not just to brag about my son-in-laws(but I have every right to do so..) it is to point to example and the power of that example on little eyes and minds that take it all in.

Bruce and Bill you are the greatest! How did I know? I saw it in the eyes of your kids! And boy of boy can they ever shovel….!
