My Catalogues

My garage is my retreat center. Some people travel the world to find a place of repose and spend many thousands of dollars to find what I have in my garage.

In my case I have inherited old tools and have some new ones. It makes work easier to have a tool that is just right. Every good “tool man” knows that. He has likely stretched his spouse’s understanding a little as well at times – as he will need just one more tool to get the job done.

The one important thing that we receive from time to time is the “Tool Catalogue”. These come in different forms – from weekly flyers to online catalogues to full coloured catalogues that I can sit for hours looking through.

One small catalogue has come via a friend passing it on to me. It is “pocket book” size. It has only about 64 pages – so it is relatively small compared to others.

On the cover it states, “The Unique World of Princess Auto”. Below that, on the recent booklet it states, “Sale Starts Tuesday May 30th 8:00 AM – On Sale May 30th to June 11th”

Now I will tell the rest of the story…. A few days ago, on my day off, I walked into the Princess Auto Store in Whitby, Ontario. WOW! It is like walking into the most amazing place ever! I have never been to a place like this. It even smells GOOD! It smells like a real man’s store. It is filled with much more than the 64 page catalogue is – like maybe a million things more than a booklet can contain.

I walked around this store for one hour. They have everything. Not that I need everything right now – but just knowing that it is there is amazing. I know where I can get it if I need it. There is a store house of good things just a short drive away. But actually it is only one click away and there is Princess Auto on the Internet.

As I have thought about my visit to Princess Auto it brought me to a far greater realization.

I have more than this garage and my tools for blessings today. I have a catalogue that is full of resources for me. It represents a store house of amazing “tools” – just ready for me to use. The tools are all old and yet new for me. They are inherited too. They are in God’s workshop of blessings. The catalogue is my Bible. I have everything available to me.

Three main items on sale each day –in fact they are a door prize as you enter the great big place of blessing – Love, Joy and Peace. As I open the Bible as my resource catalogue it has an abundant offer on each page of these give-aways.

The Bible says of the Word of God… in Hebrews 4:12-13
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.(NIV)

I am using these tool catalogues all the time for reference. God has encouraged me to do the same with his amazing book to… and guess what – it is filled with just what I need.
