The "J 10" Program - Try It
I am asking you to consider applying the “J 10 Program” to your life.
As I have been looking more closely at 2007 and listening more closely to what God has been saying to me… I have come to the simple realization that my world is very busy. I have been doing some ‘people watching’ and have found the people that I watch are extremely busy too. Most important – my own life is very busy and I feel like I am losing the battle at times. I only need another 24 hours each day and I KNOW THAT I WOULD GET CAUGHT UP!
How do I gain back my time? Well the answer to that one is simple – I can’t. But perhaps I should ask – ‘How can I better use the time I have?’ There is an answer to that question.
The top question is ‘What have I been using up my time on each day?’
First…
The average person in 2007 is strongly impacted by TV. I came across the following stats that kind of blew me away… and realize that I am also one of the people talked about in the stats shown…
Have you realized the power TV has on our lives…? The are two areas to consider Family and Children. I came across these stats from a tremendous Web Site that may help us…(address is given at the end of this posting)
FAMILY LIFE
The number one area that has suffered is prayer. That is not just talking with God – but sitting in his presence. Quality time with God is at its all time lowest ebb.
In the world I live in – most depend on other’s prayers…
Beginning of a Solution…
The first statement I will make is the beginning of a turn around. “Spend some time with God.” “How much?”, would be a natural reply in 2007’s time starved world.
Let’s begin with 10% of our time. I have labeled this the “Just 10” or “J 10” program. That is taking just 10% of our time to spend with God. Take 6 Minutes out of an hour to pray, consciously sit in his presence and/or read something about or from him.
Of the time we use up watching TV – don’t stop watching the withdrawal might be too much – calculate the amount of time you watch TV – say 3 hours per night – then take 18 minutes with God at the end.
Just 10% of the time applied to God and what he is doing in your life.
Warning – this may increase as time goes on.
In the Bible God is speaking with Joshua(Joshua 1: 6-8) as he is about to take complete leadership of the Israelites with their next step into The Promised Land…. Here he asks Joshua to give him 100% of his time praying, meditating concentrating on the promises and directions that God gave his people. The promise God made if Joshua would do this was – he would always be blessed and successful.
What could happen today if we began with 10% and moved on?
I know one important thing – when you spend time alone with God it will draw you back again and again. There is just nothing like time alone with the creator.
Would join me in a “J 10” this week – try it for one day if nothing else. Just 10% of your time with God.

PS – Oddly enough – if you Google “J10” you will find that it brings up a host of information about China’s new Chengdu J-10 fighter aircraft.
