Merry Christmas
Last evening my grand daughter brought a card to the table to read all the Christmas greetings for us. I think she read five different languages. It was so cool watching a young lady beam from ear to ear as she gave me a big hug. This is from a 7 year old that said last fall, "I am not very good in French! I don't remember anything from last year." She studies at a French emersion school.
There was lots of laughter. We were sitting around our son-in-law and daughter's table enjoy stories being told by everyone. Both sets of grand parents were there. It was a family Christmas time together.
I savour these moments and times now more than ever before. I realize more now than ever that they will not always be there for us - these moments are special.
Today will be the gift giving and the excitement that comes as the kids unwrap the presents that they will get. More and more memories will flood into my mind space of days when I was a child and squealed with delight as the mystery packages were opened.
Later today my wife and I will be hosting seven men that have all been in prison over the past number of years. They will be here for our Christmas lunch together. Today we are making new memories and filling empty spaces for guys that have nothing. For two of them this will be their first Christmas on the outside of prison walls after many years. All of them are not able to be with their families because of the past.
I anticipate that we will all shares stories and lots of laughter together. Again I savour these moments and times now more than ever before. I realize more now than ever that they will not always be there for us - these moments are very special.
May God bless all of you whether in a cold place or a warm one. Thank you for being part of our world wide family.
Merry Christmas.
