Reports from the International Ploughing Match
As I reported in the last post, this past week the International Ploughing Match (IPM) was held just outside Peterborough. It attracted thousands of people. One of the booth presentations was done by the Organization of Christian Farmers. Along with hundreds of volunteers from our community and surrounding communities the Gospel Message was shared in a unique way.
It was reported on this Sunday AM in our service. We had about a dozen or so that were involved in sharing at the booth…
Using the simple leather strand of coloured beads they described what God could do for each one they spoke to. At the end of the presentation the folks that listened to the story and the sharing received a walking stick. The leather strap carried the beads and a card about the story that they just heard.
It is estimated that there was over 3500 that prayed and gave their names and addresses for a follow up of what happened.
As we walked through the grounds of the IPM we were constantly asked where we got the walking stick from. I praise God for this wonderful outreach that took place in our community. Yesterday we were praying together that the Lord would continue to work deeply in the lives where the seed of the Gospel had been sown.
One account was very touching. An older man came into the tent. They directed him to be seated with a young man by the name of Dustin. He said, "I have a grandson by the name of Dustin." When they lead him to the meet Dustin – it was his grandson. Dustin shared the story of salvation with his own grandpa – who then accepted Christ. It was grandpa’s first time to hear what God had done for him. That was only one of many stories we heard Sunday AM. Praise God for his work in our lives.
BTW – each of our folk that shared had never done this kind of thing before.
